Boris escapes from his Austrian bride to the North Caucasus, where, by chance, he becomes a music teacher for a local girl named Nina. Nina doesn't want to marry the groom her father has found for her and tries with all her might to postpone the wedding. Boris helps her in this: he decides to steal Nina according to local customs, and now they have to hide not only from her fiance but also from Boris's suddenly arrived bride.
